    Preparing For Your Treatment

You need hair growth for hair removal.

Targeting the hair at it's root is key to getting the softest and longest-lasting results for any hair removal process. As a general rule, your hair length should be about 1/2" in order to get the best result, and it could take about two to four weeks to get the right hair length--it depends on how fast your hair grows. Any shorter and the wax or laser heat may not target the hair root properly.

Save yourself time and money by getting in-tune with your hair's cycle.

Our hair is never growing or shedding all at the same time. Each follicle has its own cycle of growth, rest and release which is why initial waxing and laser appointments should be scheduled regularly. Shaving in-between these services does not change the cycle but it can reduce the hair length needed to get the best results and it will require more visits than going without shaving.

The more you wax/laser, the less hair you grow.

Routinely ripping the hair bulb from the follicle damages the follicle, the hair bulb grows smaller, and, eventually, the hair growth process will take longer. In many cases, the follicle can go dormant and not produce anymore hair. Depending on your hair growth patterns and the amount of hair you have, reaching this state of smooth may take 12 to 16 weeks if you're exclusively waxing.

Hormones can change your hair growth cycle.

As much as we love to have control over our bodies, we cannot (at this point in time) control our hormones. The most dramatic changes in hair growth occur in women with the transition from birth control, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause. Our hair growth can slow or accelerate--even after permanent hair reduction--and hair can become more dense or thinner with hormone-related changes.

If you're wanting less hair growth, the winter season is the perfect time to start. Schedule your waxing or laser services now or just schedule a risk-free consultation to start.

    Preparing for Your Wax

For best results and maximum comfort, follow these little measures before and after any hair removal treatment:

    • Don't wax or tweeze the treatment area for at least two weeks prior to the appointment. Optimal hair length is 1/4 inch, but as long as you can pinch and pull your hair with your fingernails, it should be long enough to wax.
    • Don't use any tanning products before or up to 3 days after your waxing service.
    • Relax during your treatment; tension and anxiety can increase any pain you may associate with waxing. On the day of your appointment, you may find it helpful to take a mild OTC pain reliever or a topical numbing cream to help relieve any discomfort. Honestly, we use an elite blend of hair or strip waxes that make waxing virtually painless.
    • During your recovery phase (about 2-3 days) it's important to keep the skin clean in order to prevent infection or breakouts. Wait until after your recovery period to use any self tanners or ingrown hair treatments to prevent any sensitivities.
